In Salou, the best hours are spent on the beaches or sheltered along its coast. With over 14 kilometers of coastline, in Salou you will find urban, adapted, and accessible beaches equipped with all amenities. But you will also find quieter, more secluded coves sheltered by cliffs and pine forests.
Salou has made a clear commitment to quality and accessible services to make it easy for you to enjoy your stay. The Ponent and Llevant beaches, the most urban ones, are a clear example of Salou's Family Tourism Destination seal: they are fully accessible and feature services for all family members.
Both have children's play areas. On Llevant beach, these have been expanded with a Children's Club that operates during July and August, offering monitor-led workshops and experiences that children are sure to remember.
Lifeguard and rescue services have fixed stations on the Ponent, Llevant, Capellans, and Llarga beaches. Patrols are carried out throughout Cap de Salou in coves without a fixed lifeguard station.
PortAventura (European Destination Resort) is a leading holiday theme resort in Europe, largely located within the municipality of Salou. Opened in 1995, after its initial success – and with the opening of its hotels and the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park – it transformed into a benchmark tourist destination resort in Europe.
The park features six themed areas: Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, Polynesia, and SésamoAventura, offering visitors over 30 attractions, 15 daily shows, 75 dining spots, and 27 craft and gift shops.
Cirque du Soleil is established at PortAventura with new shows every season, adventures filled with impossible acrobatics and guaranteed excitement. The shows welcome more than 2,400 spectators daily. In the China themed area, Angkor will premiere this year, an entertainment attraction that once again breaks the record for being the longest circuit in Europe.
PortAventura also features a water park: Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, expanded and completely renovated in 2013. The resort is completed with a convention center with capacity for 4,000 people.
The gastronomic offering displays a full spectrum of colors, aromas, and flavors. More than 200 restaurants offer Mediterranean, market, seafood, signature, or home-cooked cuisine. The proximity of the port and the production areas of wines and oils with Designation of Origin guarantee the quality of local cuisine. International cuisine, with various specialties, is also well represented.
The foundation of the Mediterranean cuisine you can taste in Salou consists of olive oil, fish and seafood, vegetables, game, and nuts such as almonds or hazelnuts. Furthermore, very close to Salou, you can discover five different Wine Designations of Origin: DOQ Priorat, DO Montsant, DO Conca de Barberà, DO Tarragona, DO Penedès, which you can enjoy in the town's restaurants.
In addition, thanks to the cultural diversity of Salou's population, today you can also find many other flavors coming from the rich culinary traditions of cuisines from around the world.
